It’s our birthday!!! Our birth date is just one of the many things we share as identical twins, including our apartment, friends, car and curly hair! We have always loved sharing our birthday because we get to surprise each other with gifts and celebrate our friendship and sisterhood. For our birthday, we thought it would be fun to share 7 things that we love about being twins:
1. HAVING A BEST FRIEND FOR LIFE
We are identical twins, a musical duo and roommates… and what makes all of that even more fun is the fact that we are also best friends. We love hanging out together, and amazingly enough, we never seem to run out of things to talk about – be it life, love, music or the latest episode of the Bachelor.
2. SHARING CLOSETS
What girl wouldn’t love having double the clothes (and shoes!) It is definitely great to have a sister who lives right across the hall with a closet full of outfits in your size. As an added bonus, if you’re shopping together and you don’t feel like trying something on, you can get your twin to try it on for you, and it’s basically like looking in a mirror!
3. READING EACH OTHER’S MINDS
Can we read each other’s minds? This is a question we get asked a lot as twins, and the truth is, we really do have “twin-tuition” sometimes. The place where we notice it the most is on stage – we will often move the same way or sing the exact same thing at the exact same time and in the exact same key without even planning it (crazy!). It’s so much fun to perform with someone who feels things musically the same way as you, and we definitely feel lucky to have that bond on stage and off.
4. LOVING THE SAME THINGS
We don’t know if all twins share the same interests, but we certainly do. You couldn’t ask for a better travel companion than someone who loves your music playlist, wants to eat at the same restaurants as you (and likely orders the same meal!) and wants to see the same movies, shows and destinations as you too. Sharing a house has always been easy since we have the same taste in interior design, and we hardly ever have to compromise when it comes to choosing what to make for dinner or watch on Netflix for a sister movie night.
5. HAVING A PARTNER IN CRIME
As kids, it meant that there was someone else who agreed that putting all of Mom and Dad's shoes in the fish tank was an excellent idea, and that starting a bakery in our bedroom by spreading out flour on the furniture sounded like the recipe for success (true stories!) As adults, it means that we always have someone who has our back and supports us through the good times and the bad.
6. HAVING SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS YOU
It’s special to have someone who truly understands how your mind works. Sure, if your twin sister wants to annoy you, she knows exactly how to push your buttons. However, when you’re sad or stressed out, your twin knows exactly what to say to lift you up. We’re never afraid to give each other our honest opinions, and we can share our deepest thoughts and worries without fear of judgment.
7. SHARING A BIRTHDAY
Double the cake, double the balloons, double the fun! ...Need we say more?
